Young American Voices is a non-audition show choir for performers ages 5-18. Summer Workshop rehearsals are held in the music studio of Maria McKay Jones--located at 5205 Palmer Lane NW, Rochester, MN. Rehearsals include singing, choreography, performance techniques, a story or two, and lots of "polish and shine." Choir director Maria McKay Jones believes that learning the story behind each piece of music enriches both audience members and performers alike. Choir members internalize the meaning of the music and discuss it's personal application. Sharing their new-found enthusiasm for the music is a natural outcome of rehearsals. Children feel they are part of something wonderful. Performances are at the conclusion of each session. |
